Road trip: day 1
posted in USA, Automobiles |Whew! I’m tired from the day, but I’m here in Atlanta.
I don’t want to go into details on the flights…this is about driving…so, I rented a Ford Taurus from Hertz. Initial impressions are good. Drives very smooth. A little too easy to speed, and a little too touchy on the brakes, and that’s a bad combination. I got the GPS package and that was helpful but not perfect. It took me to the destination (Best western hotel), but it couldn’t tell me that I needed to enter the parking lot via the IHOP parking lot, so I had to do some extra driving in circles to figure that out. The hardest part of that is that once I arrived at the destination, as far as it was concerned, and passed it…there was no obvious way to tell it to try to get me back there again. I’ll investigate that possibility further.
